Foundation for the promotion of Italian contemporary art, the VAF Foundation is a culturally active German venture whose commitment is exclusively focused on exploiting the outstanding achievements of modern and contemporary art in Italy to the point of collecting, dignifying, developing, spreading and advertising its latest creative contributions. The aspect of cultural exchange and the artistic dialogue between Italy and Germany – and German-speaking countries – is an important factor in the ambitious work of the foundation. The VAF Foundation does not only give loans from its high profile and extensive collection of Italian art of the 20th and 21st century to museums in Germany and Italy, it also publishes art scientific papers on specific manifestations of Italian Modernism in bilingual, German and Italian editions and praises them also every two years with a prize for young Italian artists whose award is always accompanied by two exhibition which are always shown both in Germany and in Italy.
